Hey guys, so here’s the deal. This year, my school’s valedictorian has a weighted GPA of ~4.6 or 4.7. I have a 4.57 and am class rank 4. However, in the previous years, the valedictorian had max 4.37 weighted GPA (which even our rank 20 has this year). The classes in our school have not gone down in difficulty. It’s just that it’s a huge coincidence that we have a lot more motivated and smart students in our year.
I feel that this would hurt my chances, as I would be compared to “geniuses” in my year, while the Admissions Committee may unknowingly feel that there is just grade inflation. OR would they compare it to the overall school history and notice that there are just an absurd number of high-performing students in my year?
I am asking this because while I have decent ECs, I don’t have major awards, anything with a “WOW” factor in my ECs, so I am relying on my GPA and SAT as a couple of the stronger points in my application.
BTW, yes, I have passed all my APs. Mostly 4s.
