Class Rank question. Please help!

Okay, so right now I'm 1/12.. yeah, I know, pathetic, right?
Well, I'm planning to transfer to a bigger PUBLIC high school (600 juniors apprx) and since I haven't had the advantage that those kids have had because they have attended a school that offers so many more courses than our school, my rank is going to drop. I'm not sure where? I'm just hoping not in the 50's LOL.
But will this affect my college admissions? what if I get my guidance councilor to write a letter explaining that I transferred and that's why my rank is so low?
I'm not exactly sure WHAT my rank WOULD be if I transfered, but since I'm probably GOING to transfer then it will deff. drop.
The reason I'm transferring is so i can take more courses. I have ran out of courses to take at my school, so either I take courses online and sleep through school (no literally.. I have like no classes and the ones I do have are pretty easy because I have went over the stuff before), or I attend a bigger school and get into their IB program and take AP exams/courses from them + courses online as well to help me get "quality points".

Would this be a drawback rather than a better chance at a college?
I'm particularly interested in Cornell if that makes any difference.

Oh.
and as a side question:
My EC's are going to be weird because the school I currently attend offers TWO effing clubs, and I'm gonna transfer into a school with 80+ clubs. So idk if it'll be bad for me.
And i can only participate in JV sports b/c i won't have enough time to get to Varsity because you have to attend the school for afull year.

if you're 1/12 why would you transfer?

wait what do you mean?
Cause i'm ranked 1 out of 12.
The reason I'm transferring is cause the school i'm going to now offers no good courses, but if I transfer my rank goes down, but it will be out of 600 or so.

doesnt matter, just take the toughest course load available right now and stick with them....

^ So are you saying not to transfer?

~^ yup exactly

^ hmm.
Well, I guess. I'm not sure. =/ I just know that the "toughest" course load at my school is pretty damn easy. ahh.
Cause my schedule next year would look like:
Ap Eng.
Physics
Bible
Business(1 semester)
Studyhalls for the rest of the periods.
Cause those are the only classes that they offer that i HAVEN"T taken.

oh, does your state/county not offer online courses? if they do, then take em.

Well, yes. They do. So I could take ap courses through the Ga Virtual School.
ahh.
This is too hard. =/
I have to decide soon because the second semester begins after december.

or sign up for community college courses. Your WAY better being the biggest fish in the pond. Transfering and dropping your rank will not be the best move, but see if others have any other ideas> I wouldn't

take the ap courses through Ga Virtual School, its an interesting experience

Well. 1st out of 12 doesn't really mean anything does it?
Wouldn't it help too, say, if i got the new school's councilor to write a letter saying that I transferred to take more courses because I exhausted the ones at my older school?

Also, if I were to stay, my mom deff wouldn't be able to pay for all the online/ccollege courses i'd want to take because we pay for my attending the school, but if i transfered, I could freely take alot more courses outside of school.

bump......

I'd suggest transffering. Colleges get EXTREMELY Nervous when accepting people with such small class sizes -because then your val status is meaningless.

Its better to be 30/600 than 1/12, to all adcoms. Most other people posting dont seem to really understand rank in the eyes of adcoms. Besides, if your rank drops just one, then you are INSTANTLY SCREWED at the top colleges, since your out of the top 10% and have the low class size, thus resulting in an immediate rejection usually from top schools. Some of hte other posters here have no idea what they are talking about.

Along with taking a more rigorous courseload, which it seems you would enjoy more, thus making your hs experience better.

I'd suggest transferring. The 1/12 will hurt you a lot simply because of the class size. Thats one of the reasons why most top schools reject 60% of valedictorians.

I was just thinking, "sucks to be whoever's 12/12 at your school" haha.

^ hahaha
GOOD point.
Well the 12/12 person doesn't really give a damn for school. =[ I think it's sad how these people waste their lives thinking they are really cool.
Actually, I feel bad for the 600/600 LOL
Thanks RootBearCaesar(sp?)! I really appreciate it. I guess I'm gonna have alot to think over this thanksgiving break, but I know I'm deffinitly going to enjoy a tougher course load more, and you do have a good point. I know my rank if I stay won't matter at all and you make complete sense when you say that adcoms would question the validity of how "good" i actually am, if you know what I mean.
Thank you for your imput!
=]

bump. Anyone else?

bumpppp haha?

I agree. I think it would be very unwise to stay at that school just to keep your rank where it is.
Even if it does go down, rank doesn't matter that much.
Most places looks more at what classes your took and how rigorous your schedule is.
