Class rank question

ok so I'm only a freshman and i found out that my semester 1 gpa is REAAAAALLLY BAD i had a 3.4 gpa

i seriously want to attempt suicide; so far ive been doing well this semester 2 ive been getting A's and B's but i just want to know how much will it affect my class rank in my sophomore, junior and senior year?
will i still have a chance to raise my class rank if i really do well this semester 2?? please i NEED HOPE i dont want to have a bad stats for my sophomore year

I had a GPA similar to that for my first two years of high school; then, after all A grades in the most challenging courses these last two years, I’m to around top 5-6%.

So one semester won’t kill you. You probably won’t be #1, but you can definitely still end up highly ranked.

Ok, first of all…

Suicide is not a ****ing joke, and definitely not something you do when you have a freaking 3.4. No, it’s not an incredible GPA, but it’s definitely not “REAAAAALLLY BAD.” /lecture

Now, you’re just fine. I don’t think I did all that well my freshman year, but once I got into honors classes and tried more, I did a lot better. You have 3.5 more years to get up to a point where you’re satisfied.

Really Billy?, Damn. If some on had a GPA like that in their first two years over here, they’d be struggling to break the top 15%, let alone the top 5%.

I wish i went to your school.

Well, my school uses weighted GPA, so taking more higher level academic credits than anyone at the school ever has helped.

^Still, I agree with Daxlo. A GPA like that for 2 years and still top 5%? Wow.

I didn’t see that the first time. I concur, suicide is NOT something to joke about. It’s tragic and serious; so many people die because they lose hope or suffer mentally (depression, mental illness, extreme loss), so it’s not something to be thrown around lightly.

“GPA like that” was ~3.45 (full honors/AP as much as a freshman/sophomore could), then switched to dual enrollment; I’m on my final 6 of 27 college courses; each of which is either a full high school credit (math, science with lab, English, literature) or half (other humanities, social sciences, computer, etc), and they’re weighted the same as AP. Beginning of this year, I was 24/404 (~6%). We’ve since dropped to 394 students, and I have another high grade semester behind me, so I rose a little more (not sure how much).

It neither means that I’m very good or that my school is very bad; I just took tons and tons of highly weighted academic courses, with ~3.95 GPA for 11th/12th.

■■■■■???
???
???

if not… suicide is bad. you could die from it

[Aside from this post](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/709147-how-do-i-post-something-new.html#post12144215), I don’t see any evidence for being a ■■■■■.

The OP just said it as an exaggeration for being upset; others jumped not because they believed the OP was actually contemplating suicide, but because it is in bad taste to speak of suicide lightly.

no I’m serious, do you think i still have a chance?? i mean i still have 2nd semester right ?? If i do good this semester do you think my rank will raise up?

Each semester you do better, your rank will most probably rise.
