I got my class rank today and was a bit disappointed. 77 out of 406 (top 19%), but my weighted GPA is a 4.31. I go to one of the top 100 high schools in the nation and I know at any other school in the area, I would be in the top 5% easily. My questions are the following:
How much does not being in the top 10% hurt my chances of getting into schools such as Dartmouth, Swarthmore, or Lehigh?
If your school reports class rank, can you choose not to send it to colleges?
When admission officers view class rank, do they take into account the prestige of the school you attended, or do they hold every school to the same standard?

You can’t choose not to send your class rank. Colleges do take the difficulty of the school into account, particularly for feeder schools.
