Class rank vs. SAT

How important is class rank for ivy league? Is it just as important as SAT? Is it less/more important?

SAT hands down

What? No, class rank is very important, and SAT just has to fall within a range (1450+ should be alright, though 1500+ is nice). But mostly, it comes down to how much they like you. Most people greatly overestimate the SAT.

well i meant SAT as in if you bomb that your #1 class rank at a school of 50 wont mean too much

I say SAT as some schools don't rank (like mine)

hardly class ranks, they are retarded. some school a 94-100 is an A, i know a school that gives an A+ to grades above 95 and 84-94 is an A. So depending on how the school grades depends greatly on how they class rank is examined. At least the SAT is equal with everyone else.

i hate class rank.....because mine sucks
honestly though, they factor in freshman year grades too
I was a slacker during freshman year, and I got 3 Bs. does that mean im not gonna be successful? Hell no!
But as it stands, my class rank still sucks, and its a crying shame, because I score higher on my standardized tests than most of the people who share the rank of number 1 at my school.
However, sadly, class rank is still more important in my opinion. (although it shouldn't be)

It depends... If you are ranked high in a large class that is very competitive at the top 25-40 places, I would say class rank. However, if you attend a small school with a class size of 50 total, class rank doesn't matter nearly as much as standardized tests. A 2/515 or a 1/515 looks better number-wise than a 2/50 or a 1/50

I think both are very important!!
