Ok so basically my GPA is 3.87 UW. My school does not weight and so a bunch of kids that take a ton of easy classes like 2 or 3 PE classes and intro to Art and that sort of stuff are ahead of me in class rank. I'm around 40/540 (fluctuates depending on people moving and stuff but around there). As a freshman I had a 3.69 GPA, Sophomore year I had a 3.94, and Junior Year I had a 3.96. Will my GPA/Class Rank keep me out of the very top colleges like Harvard, Yale, and MIT?

Anyone help?

if you took hard classes it's not going to keep you out

I worried about the exact same problem when I applied because my school ranked using unweighted grades. I don't think it mattered too much in the end. Keep working hard to improve that GPA and don't worry too much about class rank. An upward grade trend looks impressive too.

Well I've taken the hardest course possible (including 2 semesters of Math at the University, as well as 2 more next year). If I am 40/540 (which i should safely be after 1st semester next year) i will have an AI of 8 if that matters on the CC Calculator ;-). I got a 2380 SAT and 800s on 3 subject tests, and 5's on 5 AP tests, does that indicate that I have an aptitude for school, or does it mean I'm lazy?

I think it's more reflective of the fact that your school doesn't rank by weighted grades.

Should I ask my counselor to point this out, or should I just leave it be?

The counselor report should say that your rank is based on UW GPA. If you want to be safe, you might want to ask him/her to make sure it's clear on the counselor rec.
