class rank

does anyone know the average class rank of students at nd, or like the percentages that are in the top 5%, ,10%, 25%, etc., cuz i think i might have screwed myself over at any chance of getting in

i think the average is top 6% but i dont know the percentages.. i dont think they would break it down to percentages

i ask because im curious about the accuracy of the numbers from collegeboard.com, where it says that 85% graduate in the top 10% of their high school class, 95% in the top 25% and 100% in the top 50%.

the 25th to 75th percentile of class rank is 1% to 6%

sucks for me since im 8.5%

id much rather be where u are, since even tho im a legacy and all that good stuff, im 28% and i think my chances are slim

im 7 sumthin %...but i only gotta move 6 places to be top5% wchich btw is gonna happen

i would be moving up if my school recalculated gpa and rank in january of senior year, but they dont

do u think that nd gives any weight to the fact that class rank is somewhat dependent upon the fact that my school basically gives no weight for honors and AP classes, and that my school is extremely competitive when compared to other high schools?

I have the same problem. As it stands, my 98.something (100 pt. scale) ranks 7 out of 70, with the top several being fractions of a point apart. I would think that admissions people would take such things into account.

Rick, I think ND should give some consideration to the fact that your school judges your gpa in the same boat as someone who took NO honors or AP classes. I'd be sure it's noted in the final section of your application.

From own experience - my school did not rank in terms of GPA. Their assertion was that with the academic caliber of the school, it was to difficult to differentiate where students fell, and they said this on an enclosed letter they included with the transcript. That having been said, they would print an approximate "unofficial" ranking on your transcript. Senior year I was somewhere between 9-12 depending on which trimester you looked, out of a class of low 50's. Then again my high school normally has a chunk of students admitted to ND every year so the admissions dept understands how our school works, my class had 13 apply, about 8 or 9 get in if I remember right, and 6 of us came here.

I'll say this again, admissions to college's in the top 25 is basically a crap shoot, I made it in to ND with no alumni connection so I was not in that seperate application pool, but at the same time I was waitlisted at comparable schools in terms of ranking to ND who had similiar admissions criteria. So good luck, role the dice, if you don't make it in, but you really want to come, then transfer in, I had several friends while at ND who did that. And remember the admissions committee looks at the whole application
