Class Rank

How does your school do class rank?

I ask this because recently I found out a school ranks their students much differently than my own. My school ranks conventionally, I would think. If there were 3 4.0s (My school doesn't weight at all), they'd all be ranked one, and the next highest GPA would be 4. However, the other school ranks as a scale of GPAs (Ex. if there were 3 4.0s UW, they'd all be 1. The next highest GPA would be 2). I'd never thought about ranking like this before, but after hearing about it, I really wish my school did it like that (as I'd be Sal. instead of #5; not really consequential, but it'd be nice to see on my diploma)
Thus, I wanted to know if this style of ranking is common at other high schools in the US

My school ranks “conventionally,” or the same way that your school does. I think that other way you mentioned is weird and deceptive.

My school doesn’t even have class rank…

Ours doesn’t have class rank. But colleges receive information on how your school calculates class rank in the secondary school report, so they’ll keep that in mind when doing their whole selection thing.

Mine ranks the second way, that’s why there’s always like 5 Val. And 6 Sal.
