Class Rank

In regards to the Class Rank percentages they have listed, I'll use LAS for example, which is 83-95 percentile. I'm not sure how it is at other schools, but are the majority of Class Ranks given Weighted Class Ranks or Weighted Class ranks. I was curious about this, so I asked.

I think most class ranks are weighted.

Will they take my unweighted rank into consideration, which is like 12 percent unweighted, and it would be around 7 or 8 percent weighted since our school doesn't offer weight to GPA nor Class Rank.

Jerod

UIUC considers whichever class rank is provided by your school. If it is unweighted, they are not likely to try to guess what you might be in the same school as weighted, although they will view courses taken as a factor -- the more honors/AP the more favorable the view. Also, top 12 % is generally fine for the LAS college as long as your test score is also good.

What if your school doesn't rank?

They take your GPA into consideration and put it into a standardized curve, and make an estimated guess as to what your class rank would be.

Regards,
