Class Rank?

What do colleges do if a school doesn't offer class rank. My school doesn't offer it, but i am In the Scholars Program which is a program for "academically gifted" i guess u could say. So what would colleges do?

You would be suprised that at many schools a large # of students come from schools that do not submit rank (over 40%).

While some schools state that they do not rank, GC will confidentially rank for purposes of admissions of scholarships. Your best bet would be to ask your GC how it is handled at your school.

It will hurt the top students if your school does not rank. For example if you are among the top 1-2% in your class, but your school states you are top 10%. GC will automatically assume you are top 5%.

It does not hurt top students if the school does not rank as the school simply states that they do not rank. I think sometimes it hurts you more if you rank because they then ask how many students share this rank. If a large # of students are sharing the same rank, schools tend to question if there is a lot of grade inflation. In smaller schools having rank can kill students who have gpa with in one hundreths of a point.
