<p>Hi everyone,</p>

<p>Recently I just got my class rank and I'm 8/231. I was originally 4/231 but because they messed up my GPA my true rank is 8/231. I'm really surprised because I would usually go into a slump for weeks and be depressed but at this point I've done that sooo much that I can't even (nor want to) go through that process. At this point, I know for sure my chances for Valedictorian are most likely shot but what about for Salutatorian? I know that if I work really hard I will move up but how plausible or realistic is it to move up from 8th to 2nd? Do you think I could still possibly be competitive for HYPSM btw I'm a Sophomore.</p>

<p>Without test scores, it is impossible to tell if you are viable for HYPSM. You’re class rank is certainly in the ballpark, but there is much, much more that is important for these highly selective colleges. Each year, they all reject a bunch of 4.0/2400 valedictorians.</p>
