How important is class rank? When I applied, back in September, I was ranked top 13% in my class. Will it hurt me if I’m not in the top 10%? If so, how much? I have heard both yes and no as an answer, but maybe someone here has more information on the issue.
UF puts little weight on class rank. What’s far more important is GPA, class rigor, essay and test scores. Of course, with a high GPA, comes a high class rank.
EDIT:
For more detail, look at UF’s Common Data Set (CDS).

Table C7 list the relative importance of each academic and nonacademic factors in your first-time, first-year,degree-seeking (freshman) admission decisions. You’ll see how class rank is not very important or important, it’s only “considered”.
Good Luck!
