Hi,

I have taken a significant amount of AP/Honors/ETC courses and gotten a 3.8 UW GPA as a result. My school is full of ridiculously smart people, and so I fall in the 40th-50th percentile. (~20% of my class has a perfect 4.0 UW with all APs and Honors, without any grade inflation)

Will this hurt my chances in any serious capacity? If so, is there anything I can do to mitigate the problem?

You will be viewed in the context of your school. If it’s obvious they are all high performers the schools will take that into consideration.

Depends on where you are applying.

Low class rank will hurt you at University of Texas, which uses class rank and does not use GPA.

Low class rank will have no effect at University of California, which does not use class rank.

Alright, thank you both for the information :)
