Class Registration has been really easy!

I just wanted to tell you that so far there has been absolutely no trouble at all getting courses needed at convenient times for both the Fall and Spring semesters. I hear stories from other large universities of how difficult class scheduling can be but not so at FSU. Scheduling is easy and flexible.

thanks
how does summer registration work?
at preview in spring?

My son did not go to Summer session. I can only tell you about Fall registration for freshmen.

The last day of orientation in June the students met with their advisor and they came up with a workable schedule. She had them log onto their account and register online. The entire summer you could tweak the schedule to get better class times or professors.

They provide academic maps for each major so you can see exactly what and when you need to complete courses. There is a screen that shows you all the courses that count for one or more liberal studies requirements as well. They also provide a graduation check tool that will show you what is left that you need to take in order to graduate depending on your major. The course search tool is very easy to use so you can see all the sections and times that are available for the course you want to take.

I must say FSU did a great job with its registration tools.

Well if you want to get into a foreign language class your first semester, it's probably not going to happen, especially if that language is Spanish.

However, the rest of my schedule was easy to manipulate, and I decided I'd rather take Chinese than Spanish, so it's a good thing I couldn't get it last semester. Now I don't have to worry as much because honors priority registration has taken effect.

Getting online to register for Spring 2007 classes last semester was a pain, though. Everybody got on at the same time and FSU's server capacity was exceeded. Had to hit refresh a lot and I barely got registered before I needed to get to my first class. However, I got everything I wanted, so I was happy.

If you want to minor in business it is a little tricky to get business courses.
You are also restricted to a small list of available business courses.
You can either do one of two things:
1. At the beginning of registration, only 10% of the seats available in each section of the certain courses are available to non-business majors.
2. At 12:00 Noon of the third day of classes (during the drop/add period), any remaining seats in the courses become available to non-business majors.

All other business courses are restricted to Business Majors Only, and are not available to students pursuing a Business Minor. If my son stays in economics, he could have a difficult time getting the business minor courses.
He is thinking of switching over to business intent and the problem will be solved.
