Class registration questions

  1. Is the freshman seminar in the CAS advising portal one of your four main 4 credit classes, or is it a 5th class on the side that doesn't count towards your credits?
  2. Since I was recently admitted off the waitlist, I was only able to complete my CAS advising portal last week. It says to wait for an advisor to contact me by June 17. However, CAS registration can began as soon as tomorrow...I'm really worried that some of the class times I want will be gone by then. Do they usually contact you early, and do class sections usually fill up by then? What can I do to prevent this from happening?
  3. When will I need to take my placement tests by? I'm thinking of taking the Computer Science/Calc II/Foreign language placement tests, but there isn't much info on what the deadlines are for each of them. Will taking them later make it harder to get certain sections of each class?

Thank you!

I got my answer for #1: The freshman seminar is in fact one of your four main 4 credit classes. Meaning for a certain term (fall or spring), you can only select 3 more classes.

I still need answers for #2 and #3.

It seems June 17 is advising wave B, and that they reserve some seats for those in that advising wave. Although more insight on how accurate this is would be nice.

  1. somebody is right, they reserve spots for people with later registration dates
  2. the later you take these tests, the more spots will be taken in specific sections. I think the deadline is essentially when school starts, but you can talk to your counselor about this when you are assigned one during your advising wave
