Class registration?

I'm going to be a Bio major but I just registered for classes and it's required I take Chemistry first so I'm taking CHE 131 and no bio courses. Why is that? My friend who's a Bio major at another school is taking Bio, Chem, along with several other courses as a freshman.

Also, since there is a 15 credit limit for 1st semester for freshman, would that mean I would have to take a heavier course load the following semesters to catch up in classes? I'm thinking of Pre-Med but I know people have to finish certain courses before MCATs and I feel like I'm behind already!

Don’t worry about it, worryworry. You’ll pick up one of the BIOs this spring, and then the other two next year, and the two labs somewhere along the way. Because of all the other science/math sequences that BIO requires (like chem and calc, like you said), it’s okay if you take them now, even though it seems like it’s “out of sequence.”
