So in the spirit of true procrastination, it just occured to me that I'm going to orientation tomorrow and have no idea about...anything. If anyone went already, did you know what classes you were going to be taking beforehand, or is there some time to figure it out for those of us who haven't mentioned the word SCHOOL since we graduated?

Hey, I'm in gallatin and I have already registered for my classes. What I did was first look up course status on Albert, I just went to the departments of subjects I was interested in (Politics, History, Econ) and I saw which classes still had openings. At Orientation I met with my advisor who suggested some classes and then I went ahead and registered the next morning. Good luck.

Don't worry about it, they explain and guide you through everything.

But basically how it works:

You'll be encouraged to fulfill as many core curriculum requirements as possible in your freshman year. First, they'll tell you what placement tests to take. Then they give you a list of the available ConWest and Writing the Essay classes (which you must take) to pick from. The next day, you'll meet with your adviser and go over how you did on the placement tests, he'll lay out your options for fulfilling any requirements you didn't place out of (science, math, foreign language, etc.) and maybe provide information on the courses required for your major.

Then you and your group will plan a rough outline of your schedule. You can sketch in the ConWest and WtE classes you picked, plus any electives or classes for your major that you want to take. Your orientation leaders will help you make sure the classes you pick fit together (in terms of times and days etc.) in your schedule.

Then on the third day, you have a final meeting with your counselor where he approves your schedule and then you go register.

ahh, phew.

Thank you so much!
