Class Registration

Having attended CalSO only two days ago, I'm well aware of the risk involved in registering for classes, especially for incoming (read: low-priority)freshmen. It's not my intention to sign up for classes that are liable to fill before I have a chance to enroll.

With these concerns in mind, I have a few questions that are probably of interest to all incoming Spring freshmen. Generally speaking, what classes tend to fill up the quickest? What are normal, tell-tale signs that indicate a popular / not readily available course? How should underclassmen approach Phase I and Phase II of Telebears?

These questions may have been answered elsewhere on this website; should this be the case, please redirect me. If not, I ask current students to share their thoughts and personal experiences on a process that was only vaguely addressed at orientation.

Impacted Courses:

Certain popular courses at Berkeley are unable to accommodate all students who wish to enroll in them. Many of these "impacted" courses are listed below. Be aware that there is a good possibility that you will not be able to enroll in these courses through Tele-BEARS. If you are requesting any of these courses, you should consider alternative courses as well. IMPORTANT: These are only the most typically impacted courses. Other classes, especially in these departments, are also frequently impacted. Therefore, you should not assume that you will have a good chance of enrolling in every course you request.
