If I do not attend the summer orientation, will I still have a fair shot at registering for classes? I know you register online, but do they limit who can and cannot register at certain times based on if they went to orientation? Or is it a first-come first-served type ordeal?

I'm a transfer student and didn't go to the summer orientation. I tried signing up for class last Monday because that was my Pass 1 time... and I didn't get to sign up for ANY of the classes I needed/wanted to take for Fall. So I have to wait until Pass 2 to see if I can get any classes... if I still can't, I'll have to take BS classes for my first quarter there because I don't need any other GE classes.

However, I know that it'd be easier for me to get classes I want for the winter quarter and the rest of the quarters because I'll have junior standing, haha.

I do suggest going to orientation, just to learn how to sign up for classes...but, if you can't go. you should have just as fair of shot as all the other 1st years. Every orientation session, only a certain amount of seats in the classes are released (but no one knows exactly how many). This information was told to me by my orientation leader a couple years ago... So it is best to sign up at the first second that you can when your pass time opens. Remember that some classes are restricted to majors only during the pass 1. and don't get too discouraged if you do not get into your classes and are forced to wait list. It is not the end of the world.
