i'd love to be able to attend virginia.

but are there any class requirements? i have only taken three years of math. however, i've gone through calculus, because i was moved one grade ahead in math.

i just decided that i would rather focus my time and schedule on things more important to me.

is uva still a possibility? i've heard from other people that i cannot get into many colleges anymore.

I think you should be fine-math wise, but your posting is a little bit cryptic.

"i've heard from other people that i cannot get into many colleges anymore."

Why do you say "anymore"?? Tell us more, maybe someone can help you see a little more clearly about your options.

i'm sorry, english is not my first language.

i just meant that i've heard many colleges require four years of math before they will look at your application. others require three, but four is recommended.

somebody told me that virginia required four, thereby limiting my chances.

i have numerous B's in math, although an A in calculus. i also received an 800 on the math portion of the SAT, an 80 on the PSAT, and have done the AIME math competition every year of high school, so hopefully that helps to cover up my lack of courseload.

sorry, thank you very much.

No need to apologize! I think you speak English very well, as a second language (I wish I had such an accomplishment)!

Check out this link: U.Va. Office of Admission > Admission Information

I looked to see what requirements were necessary, but in my brief scan, I couldn't find anything that was quickly obvious. You might want to check it out. However, you have a lot of math in your background, and I think that should be fine. If you can't find the answer, you might want to write to Dean J (check out her blog--she is one of the Deans of Admissions at UVA) or call the admissions office. They have always been very helpful and kind when I have called their office. I did take four years of math, but I really don't think that is absolutely required, but I don't know for sure.
I think you might have a very good chance at UVA so don't give up or listen to people who may not know the correct answers; I urge you to pursue it further. Best to you.
