Class Requirements?

So I'm trying to write the supplement: The Admissions Committee would like to learn why you are a good fit for your undergraduate school choice (College of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing, The Wharton School, or Penn Engineering). Please tell us about specific academic, service, and/or research opportunities at the University of Pennsylvania that resonate with your background, interests, and goals.

And a website that gives tips for writing these essays says that "Penn prides itself on interdisciplinary education. You might choose to speak about how Wharton’s close intersection with the College of Arts and Sciences (and how Penn offers the ability to take classes between the two) will allow you to pursue, say psychology as well, adding a “human element” to your business education." Isn't this standard for any other college? You're supposed to take electives outside your major anyway, right?

I'd also like to know what a "sector" requirement is.

For the college arts and sciences sector requirements see:
http://fission.sas.upenn.edu/col/genreq/

In addition to courses in your major Penn expects you to take at least one course in each of seven “sectors” such as “society”, “history”, “physical world”, etc. Should you double major, or declare a minor in addition to a major then you can occasionally satisfy some of the sector requirements by courses in the “other” major, or in the “minor”.
