So I have a few questions regarding the Requirements set forth by Cal…

I’m wondering if any current Berkeley students replaced their Reading and Composition requirements through either SAT scores or IB scores? How did that affect your course work?

What about the Quantitative Reasoning Requirement? If I’m not majoring in Math, and have no interest in math, would it be better to satisfy the requirement before I get to Berkeley? (By, for example, having a 520+ on the SAT IIC) If I do this, will I ever have to take a math course in University again? Then again, if I go into Psychology or Sociology, I think they require some sort of math course?

When you satisfy these requirements externally - ie: before you get to school, how does that affect the units requirements? For example, through test scores/ IB scores, I can fulfill the Reading and Composition Requirement, Quantitative Reasoning Requirement, as well as the Foreign Languages Requirement. Does this mean that I start in a “2nd year” course during my Freshmen, so to speak?

I’m just worried that I even if I fulfill the requirements during High school, the standards of the university will be much different from what I’m used to…

Is it better to just take all the required courses instead of taking credits for them ahead of time?

Thanks to anyone who responds!! I’m so confused right now so any help is much appreciated :)
