Class Schedule is Out

Schedule of Classes Home Page

Yay.

am i missing something? fall 2011 is lacking a lot of classes…
the schedule is not complete yet i hope?

It’s very much subject to change. I see at least one professor who is leaving UCLA, but is currently listed to teach a class in the fall.

I agree, looking at Anthro classes I feel like the list is small. I also see a few courses which are already closed. Were these canceled?

Same for CS. They don’t have much time to change it, though. Priority pass starts in less than 8 days. Maybe this is part of their “cost cutting” strategy. You would think that they would at least offer more classes over the summer as a result.

Ditto. In my own department, I know of two classes that are listed for the fall but will be offered later, two courses that will be offered in the fall but aren’t listed, and one course that will be taught by a different professor than the one listed. Rather confusing, for sure!

Coolio!!!

Or we are seeing the effects of budget cuts? (But you guys are probably right)

I know that the Physics Department has a “placeholder” schedule right now until the department updates it. The early schedules are never completely accurate. With that being said, I haven’t had any problem with a lack of classes being offered. All the classes on my plan as well as my alternate plan are being offered.

You’ll notice that the professors slated to teach classes in the Physics Department are the same that were teaching last fall. Seems like they could’ve at least removed Whitten’s name from the schedule.

The math department has its full schedule out for next year, and it looks pretty good. Maybe they’re planning to cut back later semesters with the new course planner thing. Otherwise that feature is useless (seems pretty useless anyway).

Does anyone know what’s up with the addition of labs to some economics courses? I emailed the department but haven’t heard back yet.

hey I’m gonna be a chemistry major. Does anyone know if I have to take a math course my first year? Cuz I don’t even know if I have to take a placement exam.

^ If you are going to take 31A or 31B in your first quarter, then you have to take the placement exam (i’m pretty positive but you might want to double check this just in case)

If you’re going to take 32A (multivariable calc), don’t take that exam.

You only need to take it if you think you got less than a 5 on AP Calc AB or less than a 3 on AP Calc BC, or if you didn’t take AP Calc at all. The test basically either places you into 1A (pre-calc) or 3/31 A. If you’re unsure about your score you can take it and enroll in whatever class it tells you and if it turns out you did pass just drop it and enroll in the appropriate class.

In the past the political science department has added classes to its schedule and opened up seats in others well after enrollment begins, sometimes without even notifying its majors.
