Class schedule question

I am a freshman attending tulane in the fall and i signed up for CLAS 3020. Does 3020 mean junior level class for roman empire because i dont want to be in that as a freshman. Can anyone let me know thanks.

It does indeed mean that it is intended to be an upper level class. However there are no pre-reqs and my D took a couple of 300 levels her freshman year, and got A’s. However, I think for you it depends on how strong you think you are in writing papers. There will most likely be a lot of reading and probably a couple of fairly big papers. I am making an educated guess of course. You could write to the prof and ask if he already has the syllabus and wouldn’t mind e-mailing it to you. Just tell him that you are an incoming freshman and you are still trying to work out your schedule, that you want to make sure you don’t try and take on too much your first semester at college. There is no shame in that in the least, in fact I would be impressed with someone aware enough to think it through. Anyway, since most of the time the person teaching has taught the same course before, they usually have the plan ready. If not, see what he says and perhaps show up the first day. You can always drop/add.

Personally I always found the upper level classes more interesting. I think my D felt the same way. She loved hers.

ok cool thanks
