When do incoming freshman select their classes officially? If at orientation, it would seem the classes would be full by the time the last orientation convenes.

yes its at orientation. The freshman classes like WRIT 111 have spots open at every orientation. However, you prob will get shut out of a lot of classes or wont be able to take classes at enjoyable times. I just got back from orientation and I was lucky and got into all my first choices.

At Orientation you will be given a list of classes that have spots reserved. Generally, if a class is listed on the BU Brain as “Appropriate For Freshman” It has spots reserved. It will be difficult to get into your top classes, but you will have a chance to drop in or sign up for classes again in late August, so hope someone drops out. If not, you can try talking to the Prof. or making a late add petition. My advice, try to knock out possible major requirements that also knock out Gen Eds.

Also note R = THURSDAY. I was very confused about it when I was a freshman.
