Hi, I’m going to be a junior next year, and I was thinking whether my class schedule is challenging or not. I have not taken any AP courses, however I’ve had a full honors class load this year. I’m hoping to be on a premed/bio track in college. Next year, I’m thinking of taking:
AP Physics
Honors Pre-Calc
AP Lang
Honors American Govt (or should I do AP?)
AP Microecon
Digital Photography
Anatomy and Physiology
I’m worried that the AP courses will overwhelm me because I hear how the final exams are difficult, as well as the content of the material. I feel I’m ready for them since I breeze through my honors classes.
Also, I’m thinking, should I do AP Bio instead of AP Physics? I hear that AP Physics is one of the more difficult APs. I particularly liked my Honors Bio class, and I haven’t had any prior experience with Physics.
Take AP Bio only if you can take Physics (Honors, AP Phys1, or AP Phys 2) senior year. You would need to have one of bio, chem, and physics, plus one of these three at the AP level.
Have you taken US History (honors or AP)? If not, take that. If you have, AP Gov if you can.
Anatomy and Physiology is un-necessary for a premed (it doesn’t relate to what you’ll be doing in college and is more useful to students who want nursing or pre-PA.)
Have you reached level 4 or AP in a foreign language?
If you have, what about AP Psychology? If you haven’t, take FL.
I can take Physics next year, and AP Bio this year. What should I take first? In my freshman year, I was only allowed to take 2 honors courses (Honors English and Honors Bio). I’ve taken regular US History last year, so I’ll think I’ll take AP Govt for junior year. For foreign language, I’ve taken 10 years of Arabic classes, but none of them have been at the high school level. This year is my second year of Spanish, do you recommended I continue Spanish until my senior year? I don’t think I’m good enough in the class to take it to the AP level, but I’m willing to go to honors. I’m thinking about taking AP Psychology since it’s one of the easier AP’s, and I could take it instead of the Anatomy class. What’s FL? My current sophomore schedule is this:
Honors Algebra 2 + Trig
Honors Chem
Honors World History
Honors English 11
Spanish 2
Public Speaking (.5)
3D Modeling (.5)
If you are fluent/decent in Arabic, can you take a test that proves it? At a cultural center, an embassy…
That’d turn your three years of Spanish into a really good thing since it’d mean two world languages at a good level (FL = foreign language).
Ap psychology is a good replacement for Anatomy and Physiology, especially since you have to take intro to psych as a premed, and you will thus be able to coast. Easy A’s are hard to come by in premed life so it’ll be helpful in college.
I’ve tweaked my schedule since AP Govt at my school is quite tough and Honors Govt is going to be redesigned to be more easier with less writing. I would probably have this.
AP Physics
AP Lang
AP Micro
AP Macro
AP Psychology
Honors Pre-Calc
Digital Photography
Maybe Spanish 3? I’m not sure if I could fit it into my schedule…
Have you found a way to certify your level in Arabic?
(If you say you’d like to minor in it, it’ll make you very desirable to many colleges)
AP Physics
AP Lang
AP Micro/Macro => should be just one class per semester
AP Psychology
Honors Pre-Calc
Digital Photography
Looks good if you can get Arabic certified, otherwise add SPanish 3.
Don’t you need Honors Gov?
If you’re good at math, AP physics 1 is very easy (i’m assuming you’re taking that since you don’t have calculus). AP micro/macro and psych are some of the easiest APs out there, although I found micro/macro extremely boring. I think lang is fairly difficult but I’m not the best at writing so you may have a different experience. In terms of homework, AP lang has a lot of writing and reading but the others don’t have much. The workload probably won’t be a problem but depending on your strengths and weaknesses, understanding the material can be a challenge.
@MYOS1634@annana I found out that AP Physics is not available in my school. Only regular Physics. I decided to take AP Bio instead. Apparently, I’m only allowed to take 2 AP’s max for junior year. This is my new schedule.
AP Bio
AP Lang
Honors Pre-Calc
Honors Govt
