Dear parents of and current student of Villanova how easy is it to sign you for classes you want to take? I know that big schools’ classes fill up quickly and most freshman are left with the leftovers basically. How is Villanova’s class selection process and the tight bond between professors and students? Thank you all and by the way I’m thinking about being on pre med as mathematics major!
@yejin3508 It’s not that difficult actually. My S is currently a freshman and is running into the opposite problem signing up for classes next year. There are classes offered at times he would prefer and with professors he would prefer and he is unable to register for them because spots are being held for incoming freshman students. He is still able to take the classes but at different times and with different professors. You will not be left with leftover classes. He is closer to some professors than others. Class sizes are small and the professors really get to know you. On a side note, he is a math major also. Good luck to you!
@yejin3508- my daughter is a freshman. Last spring, she logged onto the portal, and it gave her a very loose selection guide where she got to rank order classes. As in “Most arts and sciences students take a social sciences class. Please rank order your top three classes from this list.” They did this for most areas, and then they did the schedule for her. Second semester onward, she did it herself. She tends to care more about time of day (not too early) than anything else. She has liked her professors. Her largest class has been 35 kids. Everyone has been helpful and nice. She has found that if she sends an email with a question, the professors offer to meet with her, etc. She’s had a couple bring donuts or candy for the class.
yea in mynova you rank your preferences for your classes. does anyone know if there is a course selection guide describing the courses though? i do not want to rank them based on my judgement of the course names…
