Class selections for next year

Can anyone help me find out what colleges require you to take Goverment and Economics in high school? I am taking AP World History this year (10th grade) and plan to take APUSH as a junior and AP European History as a senior. I am also going to take AP Psychology next year also so I will have taken 4 history/social sciences when I graduate. Our GC keeps saying that a lot of schools require Goverment & Econ for admissions, but when I look at colleges websites I can never find this anywhere. I really do not want to take Gov or Econ and don't know if I really need to or not.

The only place I have seen this is South Carolina schools - they strongly recommend Economics - I think it must be a state requirement - I saw it on both College of Charleston and Universaity of South Carolina websites.

Your choices are excellent – all relevant and traditional solid courses, that would help you develop critical writing skills. Get good grades, in the courses and in the AP exams, and you’ll get a good response from selective colleges.

rm: interesting…

Rodney - this is one example:

“Social Sciences 3 units. Includes one unit of U.S. history. Government and economics are recommended.”

From University of South Carolina:

“Social studies - 3 units: Must include one unit of US history. One-half unit of economics and one-half unit of government are strongly recommended.”

A lot of random state schools require government to graduate. I would recommend taking it in high school so you don’t have to waste your time later on.
