Class sign up time?

I'm confused... I thought we were only supposed to sign up for classes at orientation, but from what I can see some of the classes have already been filled... or am I looking at the wrong date? I searched for classes in FALL 09

I mean, some people haven't even finished with placement tests yet

only freshmen sign up at orientation. the upper classmen have already done theirs and us freshmen gets the leftovers.

they are ppl that are students right now

Current students have already enrolled based on the number of units they have. We already did make-up enrollment for current students too.

You’ll get to pick your classes during orientation. There’s an add/drop period for everyone at the beginning of the quarter too, so some spots may open up when everyone’s trying to get their schedule in order. No worries. :)

does anybody know when transfer students are supposed to register for classes?

Yeah I’m a transfer student and I haven’t heard any word, nor given any thought to signing up for classes.

does anybody know when transfer students sign up for classes?

Aug. 28– Sept.7, 2009 from what I can see on this website:
[Schedule of Classes - About Enrollment](<a href=“Select a Term”>Select a Term)

ohh, nice. thanks.

New question, I remember reading in the UCR tutorial thingy that we could go onto the Schedule of classes in order to look up our stuff early on in order to be ahead during orientation. But, if it only shows the classes that have been filled by upperclassmen, what’s the point?

Also, are they reserving class spots for freshmen to sign up at orientation, or are the current listings on the Schedule of Classes what we’re gonna get? Seems there’s only 20 or so open spots for general chem…

The Schedule of Classes shows all classes and whether they are completely filled or not. There are still plenty of classes open, but I know that the science classes are especially impacted. It’s because a lot people need them as core requirements (as opposed to GEs) for their majors.

If your academic adviser is awesome enough, they will show you which classes are open by the time of your orientation and provide alternates or make a course plan with you. Don’t worry, there are going to be spots open in lots of classes and virtually no freshmen get ALL the classes they want. They suggest that you make second and even third alternate schedules.
