how do we know what classes to sign up for?

or when? Are we supposed to wait for soar?

I believe You will have the classes already planned for you for the most part. I think you will get your schedule at SOAR. A friend of mine whose son is at CP this year got his schedule already made for him this year. He could not change anything. It is called “block” scheduling or something. They did it this year for the first time. You will have the basic classes you need for your major and prerequisites already assigned. They look at your AP classes and test scores for the level of class you can take. This is just for Fall quarter.

Nothing you can do right now. Just wait for the SOAR registration and then go to SOAR and find out. Be sure to look at the flow chart of classes for your major. It gives you an idea of what classes you will have.

Check your flowchart for recommended courseloads. If you’re an engineer, you can find them here: [College of Engineering Advising Center - Majors](http://eadvise.calpoly.edu/dept/)

You do not have to follow the order listed (in fact, you won’t) or necessarily take the exact classes listed. However most courses in the sophomore year have prerequisites not fulfilled in HS. Basically, there is a list of classes you need to complete for your major, but how you complete them is up to your planning and circumstances.

Do you guys have a cal poly portal account? If so, you can use PASS to organize a fall schedule. Once you have a plan, write down the course numbers and enter them into CPREG during your registration term and voila you’re done.

Not sure if it’s still there, but during my freshman year, SOAR posted their presentation material online. So I read that instead of attending SOAR. Don’t worry… it’ll seem simple after you go through the process once.
