Class size and transfer within the school

Hi,

I was just accepted by the Columbian College of Arts and Science and probably going to GW this fall. I'd really like to study internatioanl relations and political science.
Since I am a Chinese high school student , some of my questions may seem a little easy.
Does being in the Columbian college disadvantage me of having majors like Internatioanl relations?

Do you think I can transfer to the Elliot School of International affairs after enrolling?

About class size, how many students on average at each class except for the intro lectures ?

Oh, I want to add something to my original thread. For the first one (or two ) year, when we take the general courses, are we bound to particular school? For example, Can a student from Columbian school of arts and science take classes at Elliott?

I’m also an international student living in Shanghai, China.

If you want to major in IR, then it’s definitely better to switch into Elliott. You can do that after you enroll; there is no rush to do it now.

I’m not sure about class size… but I’m guessing around 20 students?

And no, we are actually required to take courses outside of our school. But if you’re set on majoring in international relations, it’s still better to transfer to Elliott.

Hi Sanduo. I would suggest that you transfer to Elliott. I will be an Elliott student because I am interested in International Affairs. It seems to me you’re on the same boat. As for the specifics of when to transfer, you can ask that question to a current student who has started a thread on here to help us out. They’re always quite useful because they understand our uncertainties.

sunnysh1h: Yeah, Nice to meet you. I am from Shenyang.
I heard the Political Science program in GW is one of the best in the nation. I am still uncertain about whether I should do a double major or not. Thanks for your answer.
How do you like GW? How many Chinese undergraduates are there?

theinsomniac77:Thanks. I have seen the thread by the current student. I am interested in both political science and International affairs. GW has strong programs in both fields. I think I will decide whether to transfer after enrolling. Thank you !!
