I'm just wondering, but how large are the classes at Stanford? For example, would a freshman get plently of attention? I'm just wondering how it's like at other elite colleges. Thanks.

Your best bet would be to ask on the Stanford board. At Harvard, the class sizes vary. My D, who is a freshman at Harvard, has a foreign language class with a total of 8 students, a writing (expos20) class with 15 to 20, a math class that is bigger but not so big she wouldn't feel comfortable asking questions, and economics, which is a huge lecture. For both the math and economics, the classes are broken down into sections, which are smaller and allow lots of discussion and attention.
