How is UVa's class size? I went to a public high school with class sizes of about 20-30. I like attention from teachers meaning, I want the teacher to know who I am and what my interests are and everything else. I want to be able to reach them when I need help. Is that possible at UVa? Is someone always around? Is it manageable? Is there a group that breaks off of the big one? Meaning, Is there a bunch of small groups dividing up the classes so that everyone gets help that they need? My other questions is how big is the average class? How big do the lectures get? What are the lectures?

How is the pre-med program? Will it prepare you for med school?

class sizes at the intro level are usually relatively large (econ being the largest with 500). Most of these classes will come with discussion sections that will break the students into small 20-25 person classes that will meet once a week and discuss that material covered the previous week.

Professors are generally easy to reach during office hours so if you have a question you can stop by during those times or you can ask the TA's. Classes that aren't lecture style will have a reasonable number of students, 20-50.

There is no "pre-med" program at the university you'll take courses that will meet the requirements for med-school and receive a degree in something else.
