I am first in my class of 130 which is relatively small. How much consideration does Princeton put on the size of one's high school class in relation to their class rank?

1/1000 isnt necessarily better than 1/100. i think tehy would consider it with context of the quality of your school.

How do they judge the quality of your school?

Did your counselor send a school profile with the school report? It usually says what kind of courses are offered at the school, what percentage of students continue on to college, etc.

ive tried to ask the same question myself, but i realized admission is a highly subjective process with a few objective parameters that show incomplete correlation. i guess stats on AP courses offered, % of students going into 4-year institutions, and history of contact with the college (princeton) would be a few things they can look at. but really, i think most admission people have no idea what school you are from (unless its exeter, phillips, andover, aast, tj in va, or phenomenal school like those), and they judge your academics purely from the course info available. thats what i got out of it myself.

if your school has never sent anyone to HYPSM etc., are you at a big disadvantage? people have said that but i don't understand.

i hate the stupid school profile things because it probably won't explain things... e.g. you have to take chemistry before ap chemistry, or that courses are limited by grade level, etc. sigh.

Hmm. I dont really know much, but then my school is one of the top schools in my part of the country in India but still AP's arent even offered, 'cos we follow a nationalized curriculum. But then, there have been admits to Princeton, a couple of years back I think. And did your principal/guidance counsellor explain these limitations somewhere?

If only 37% of last years class went to a 4 year college, would that make me seem diverse, or help me?

If you are a white middle class kid who just happens to be attending a crappy high school then it won't help too much in terms of diversity. Princeton probably would cut you some slack in terms of how strong your EC's need to be because your school probably doesn't offer as many opportunities as TJ for example.
