Class size

During our visit, we were told that many freshman classes are large lecture style classes. This seems to be the case for some people we know who are freshmen this year. Is this true for all classes? How about in sophomore through senior years?

It depends heavily on the major...biomedical engineering classes sophomore year are still rather large (80-100) but some of the other majors have classes with only 20 or so students in them. By junior and senior year the classes tend to all be small, typically no more than 15 students in them. Although the classes freshman year may be large, the professors typically teach very well for the size of the class and the recitations are very helpful.

According to our tour guide, Ctheflute is right, a lot depends on the major. Our guide only had one large class his freshman year of about 100 or so. He gave us a tour of the lecture hall and it was very little compared to other lecture halls I have seen! We got the impression that class size was not an issue at Case.

I sat in a lecture-style physics class on monday. It only had about 20-30 students. The teacher sucked though. but the students told me he was leaving after this year.
