I heard that at freshmen core courses at Cornell such as psychology, there are over 500 students. Is this valid?

If so, how many of these core courses does one usually take each semester?

Thanks!!

psychology is the largest class at cornell and it is not JUST for freshmen…u only get a spot if you’re in CAS or a psych major…

i’d say your large classes range in the 300-500 seats (intro to econ, biology)

do understand that pysch 101 is the country’s largest class - and not apologizing for it! my dh and I both took the class 37 years ago and our dd took it 3 years ago!

most classes aren’t that large

Wines was pretty big…filled all of Statler. It was always a surprise when you heard the tinkling of broken glass midway through the class. But yeah, most upper level liberal arts classes are less than 50 people. Just try and avoid intro chem, bio, physics, psych, anthro, or any other 101 class if you don’t want to sit in a massive lecture hall and fall asleep most days.
