How big are classes in the college?

My D is in a small parochial school with small class sizes that encourage discussion. Apart from the Ignatius and Liberal Arts Semiars, do students have the chance to engage the professors and each other? Or do the classes largely consist of listening to a lecture and taking notes?

Her interests are economics/political economy and possibly biology of global health.

I can’t speak to biology/global health, but I can talk about econ. The intro and intermediate classes are fairly large and lecture-oriented, but the econ professors love it when students want to talk to them outside of the classroom. When you get into the higher levels, it only gets better (I had a great class team-taught by two professors, and there were only 12 students).

Generally speaking the limiting factor on student-professor interaction is the student, not the professor!

I have to agree with MathEcon13. Our DS is a polyecon major and has indicated that there are no problems with access. You just have to make the contact yourself. He loves the courses and has a 3.8 so far in his major which certainly had to help him get accepted into the business minor program that starts in his junior year.
