I'm a UK student currently in the process of applying to a few US colleges.

I have a questions about class sizes and contact time. My main concentration interests are Economics, Politics and Philosophy (I'm appplying for PPE in the UK) and I'm concerned that, particularly for Econ, I'll only be in large classes/lectures all of the time, with no chance of tutorials.

Wil this be the case? Or, aside from lectures are there always corresponding tutorials, regardless of subject?

75% of Yale’s classes have 19 or fewer students. Now I don’t happen to know if the 25% that are greater than 19 are all econ classes or something, but those are the general stats.

Okay it’s.been.real - thanks for your reply. I guess a few of the econ classes will be large as I can imagine that the concentration is very popular but those statistics are quite favourable…

Student:faculty ratio in Yale College 7:1
All tenured professors of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences teach undergraduate courses.
75% of courses enroll fewer than 20 students
29% of courses enroll fewer than 10 students

Sometimes it’s just serendipity. My intro Macro course was at a weird time. It ended up being only four of us freshmen with a highly motivated Chinese grad student. It was a great class.
