How exactly does it the wl system work for classes. I think I read somewhere you get notified via email but what happens if the class never opens up? Do you show up to the class and pray that it does?

My adviser told me to keep showing up until I got in. Unless I REALLY needed the class I don’t think I would go that far. You do get an email saying that you have a permission to register for the class, and then you have to go drop the course and reregister and you’ll be enrolled-- according to my adviser. When I went to register when I got permission I found I was already disenrolled from the class, so that was a little screwy.

What class? What number are you on the WL?

Generally, it works in one of four ways:

1) Enough people drop prior to the start of classes that a spot opens up for you. Then you get an email saying that you’ve been given an override, and you get a week to use said override (i.e., enroll in the class).

2) If no one’s dropped by the time class starts, then go to the first couple days. If people who are registered or above you on the waitlist don’t show, the prof will likely drop them and you will go up on the list or maybe even get enrolled.

3) Even if everyone does show up, depending on the course, the prof could just say “screw it” and give you an override anyway.

4) You are **** out of luck and won’t get in to the class this semester.

haha I’m number 1 on the waitlist (Chem 130)

You’ll get it; I wouldn’t worry. Be sure to go to both your first lecture and first discussion.

I’m taking CHEM 130 to, but I got an override for a specific section. I’m on the wait list for PSYCH 111(1 on the wait list). I really want to take that class even though SOCIO 102 isn’t that bad.

By the way if someone drops out you get 48 hours to enroll in the class so check your e-mail frequently. At least once every day. According to my advisor, you aren’t given a week.

When is the first day you actually go to class? Is it after the new student convocation, or the date when classes begin? I know this is a stupid question, but I’m confused. I want to go see my professors before classes start.

I’m pretty sure there will be people that will drop the course because they changed their mind. And so you will be able to take it.

I am pretty sure classes begin on the 8th.
