Classes and Professor rating

Hi,

So I heard there is a class rating system in Pomona College’s student government’s website. I wonder if there are any for CMC? Do people look at Rate My Professor or similar places before they figure out their classes? Any suggestions on signing up classes?

Thanks!

Also, is there any place to get an idea about class structure and grading style, etc?

Rate My Professor is your best bet for now. There is also a book available at the Dean of Students office where you can see the quality of professors through student responses that are sent out by survey every semester.

Thanks!

FWIW, the results of a study at the Air Force Academy (which allows strict comparison between instructors, since the students, year after year, take the same classes) showed “student evaluations reward professors who increase achievement in the contemporaneous course being taught, not those who increase deep [long term] learning.” [Journal of Political Economy, 2010, vol. 118, no. 3]

FWIW, it seems that the “rate my professor” system seems flawed.

True… Thanks!
