Classes and the SATs

I'm a little embarassed to say it but I've never gotten anything but an A in any of my math classes(and i just finished Calculus in my junior year) but I did quite average on my math on the SAT I. How dumb is that?

Yeah I know what you mean....I have always done exceptionally well (all A's) in my math classes...I'll be taking Calc. next year as a junior and I just don't get why I don't get close to an 800 on the SAT.

a girl who has helped me out w/ calc (& is extremely good at it) got i believe a 710 on the math. in the two times i took the SAT, i got a 790 & an 800. go figure. it makes me wonder what the point is of the math SAT.

The SAT I math isn't difficult. Given an unlimited amount of time, most people would get really high scores; however, there is a time limit and most people in a test situation get careless and make stupid mistakes. So really, it's just a test of how well you can concentrate.

I don't know if I forgot all of my earlier math or something because I took Algebra in 6th grade, but I botched the test totally! I laugh at myself thinking about it all the time.

Same problem here. Just finished Calculus and my last two SAT I math scores have been 700 and 680 (5 incorrect each time). I got a 770 on the Math Level 2 SAT II and the Precalc class I took was last summer and only went into Trig, not vectors, etc., so these low SAT math scores are surprising and a bit embarassing.

I thought that I paid a lot more attention on the June SAT, but I think I got screwed up by one problem and kind of lost my concentration after that. At least now I know that I need to practice all this math a lot more over the summer, and hopefully that will eliminate my stupid mistakes. We'll see...

Take into account the difficulty of your high school math classes. I've never received anything less than an A on any math class either, but compared to other high schools, the grading is quite simple, resulting in only a slightly above average SAT Math Score.

hm... well i take the IB diploma program, currently in the higher level math class, i guess its kinda equivalent to ap math? or w.e? not too sure, but i gues ive always ben in the most difficult math classes my school provide (im an international student), and well.. i never rlly excelled in them, guess i kinda struggled during the start for the IB higler level math, doing ok now, getting a 6 (highest 7, 6 is A i guess), but i find the SAT 1 math very easy tho, i got 800 for the june one, had one mistake, tho a lot of my peers in the same math class kinda 'screwed' up i guess? and got 700s or even 600s. but rlly, i jsut think it was careless mistake more than the ppl rlly duno how to do it. n i got 730 for my math 2c in may. tht was harder than the sat1 for sure...
oh, i had taken calculus and algebra n stuff during my soph and fresh year.
