Classes and What buildings they are in

the difficulty of 131 and 170 is not too great so dont worry. you should be ok assuming you are goin to focus and try and not just think its an easy A.

Okay, i'm trying to get out of BUS-K 201. I want to sign up for CMCL-C 121. I found a class at the same time, but it's "closed". However, you can join a waitlist. I got #1 on the waitlist. Can you be admitted off the waitlist in "closed" classes?

probaly, if a student whos enrolled in the class decides to drop it or during the fall someone drops during that drop period i tink you get his/her spot.

ha is bus k201 that computer in business class? i heard that class was a @#*%& no matter who you got? i seriously wonder how hard that class can be? i mean it cant be like computer science AP right cuz comp. sci. is HARD. that C++, java crap :(

Yeah I just don't want to do it until sophomore year, don't care for it and it won't transfer, and while that's not my intention, I want to leave it open. Don't want to do 4 credits and realize it was all for nothing.

a2wolves, if u cant get into c121 try x104 business presentations. it meets the same requirements. also for k201 its probably real easy. you can do intro to computer science as an alternative to that if u want.

i hear K204 is much much easier then K201 (from my advisor)... dunno if its all closed though. I wanted X106 but didnt get it :(.

K201 is a weed out?

Argh, so I was #2 on the waitlist for one of the classes, and now i'm #1. So either #1 got in, or dropped out. I e-mailed the person and they didn't really give me a response other than "you're more than likely going to get in", so i'm guessing yes they do admit students off the waitlist for closed classes.

Hang in there! Sounds like it is looking good. :)

Does anyone know what text book is needed for the intro to accounting class A100? I already bought my text books for my 5 other classes off half.com, but i cant find what book i need for this class.

Oh yeah... books... lol, forgot about those...

whoa..... how do you know EXACTLY which book you need for your classes? does onestart tell u? i was afraid i might get the wrong book so i just had it reserved on the IU bookstore, i think buying them online on your own will probaly be cheaper.

I thought they told you on a website exactly what book you needed through a class search, I think it was the TIS Bookstore site.

Definitely buy them on your own. And sell them too.

YAY! I got in my classes!!!

Although, what happened was that people dropped them, they appeared on the "OPEN" page, so I had to add it normally and drop my waitlist status. They didn't do it automatically.

Now on to ordering books through the wonderful internet...

Congratulations! Glad you made it in, Wolves. Guess it pays to be vigilant. :)

I just called about this on Friday. Go to www.iubookstore.com and then click on Textbooks in the left column, then click on Reserve in Advance. You log in using the name part of your email address (w/o the @indiana.edu) and password, then they'll ask permission to access your class schedule. I clicked yes, and the next thing I knew all my son's classes were listed and I had to check off two boxes - one was to indicate I wanted used books and the second was to say yes, we wanted optional texts the professors would be recommending. They don't list the actual books there, but when you go back in to review them later the books will be listed. You'll also have a choice between two locations you can get your books. My son's dorm was between the two.

The thing I learned is that all the people reserving books online get first shot at used books. Anyone going into the bookstore to get them once they arrive, will only get what's remaining - and you sometimes get stuck buying new books because the used books have run out. You can reserve them and they'll pull them and keep them for you, even if you pick them up the fifth day of Welcome Week. Before you make your purchase, you go through the bag and see if you still want the optional texts. Some students don't buy them after seeing them, but I wasn't quite sure why they'd make that decision. I was told you had to pay for them when you picked them up, or if you have a Stafford Loan or Perkins Loan, they can bill you for them through the bursar's office. I'd like to double check that with the Bursar's office, though, and haven't done it yet.

So all you kids who would like to get used books should reserve them now.

I'm going to get used books via campusbooks.com , IU is WAY too expensive for used books.

Wolves, I just checked three books there and found them to be more expensive than IUbookstore.com. You might want to compare.

I just did the IU Bookstore, it's a lot easier pressing one button and the prices are about the same. Books are reserved, all used and no optional, haha.

Question about the Halls. Is SY - Sycamore, MO - Morrison, and BH - Ballantine? I'm hoping because I have 15-30 minute intervals between some classes and all these halls are next to each other.

Wolves, yes, those are the right buildings. I found a map here: http://www.iub.edu/~iubmap/ with a pull down menu above the map that shows the abbreviations for each building.
