Classes at other colleges not allowed

Beware. Hofstra students are not allowed to transfer credits from other colleges once they have enrolled. From their Q&A: "Once matriculated, current students may not take courses at other educational institutions. Only in rare cases and for exceptional and extenuating circumstances will a request to attend another educational institution be considered. " So, you want to take courses at your local university over the summer to catch up on your credits? Sorry. Can't do that. You live in Texas and want to take classes over the summer? Nope. Unless you can find what you want in Hofstra's paltry list of online classes, or want to pay room and board to live on Long Island over the summer and take a Hofstra summer class in person, you're out of luck. Hofstra wants to make sure every $ you spend on education goes to them. If you need to spend an extra semester onsite to finish your degree that's just tough. This is not about what is best for the student. Most people who hear about this are shocked. You will only find it buried as the very last Q&A on their website.
