Classes for First Semester Freshman?

These are the classes I'm planning on taking (14 credits total):
BIOL 1105 Principles of Biology
BIOL 1115 Principles of Biol Lab
CHEM 1035 General Chemistry
CHEM 1045 General Chemistry Lab
MATH 1016 Calculus With Trig I
NR 2984 SS:CNRE First Year Experience

Does this seem manageable? Does anyone know from experience how hard BIOL 1105 and MATH 1016 if you have already taken AP Biology and AP Calc AB in high school? Also, anyone in the CNRE know what the first year experience class contains? Hard or Easy? Thanks

1016 will be interested since everyone handles Math Empo classes differently. I’m not great at math and wasn’t the most diligent when it came to teaching myself the material in 1016, so I struggled. But if you’re comfortable with math and the material being taught already, then you should be fine if you can adjust to the kinds of questions and the way the course is designed.

I took AP Bio in HS and did fine in 1105-1106. Even though I knew the material, it was beneficial to still go to class because the professor had a different way of explaining some concepts, and it also made the assignments/tests a lot easier.

This is second hand info, but I knew someone who took FYE this year at Tech, and it was basically described as a waste of time. I think they did little, if anything, in there. If it turns out that way, I suggest bringing work or notes from other classes  again, this is just second hand info. It’d be a lot better if someone else up here who remembered it chimed in.

It depends on who your bio and chem professors are for lectures! If you post them, I can let you know! Or just check *******. The labs should be easy. Math 1016 really does depend on how you handle the math empo. I didn’t find it awful, but I had taken online courses in high school. The first year experience courses are definitely a waste of time, but they are trying to improve them. When I took the one for my college two years ago though, it was super boring.

Overall, this is a pretty standard first semester.

You’re welcome in advanced. Those websites are serious life savers.

Edit: I took AP Calc BC in high school and got a 5 on the AP test, as did my roommate freshman year. We both thought high school Calculus was more difficult than Empo math. There are tons of practice problems online, lots of free help available, and the questions were overall just easier.
