I'm going to be a freshman this incoming school year, hoping to transfer into Ross the following year. Are there any classes that would help me stand out? Also, what about taking an easy courseload to get straight A's, and then transferring? What are some of the easier classes that I should look into?

I was told it is a better route to take easier classes and get As than to try and take difficult classes and stand out. That said, take classes that interest you and play off your strengths. Generally the gen eds aren’t very difficult and apparently your more difficult classes will be calc and econ (but this obviously varies between students).

I sent you a PM.

I also would like suggested pre-Ross courses to consider for someone whose strength is in math.

what math classes have you taken? a likely recommendation is to just continue wherever you left off in high school

I just finished my first year in LSA and this is what I took:

1st Semester:
-Econ 101
-Phil 180 (intro to logic–very interesting course in my opinion)
-Eng 125
-Polsci 101 (a complete joke of a class if you take it with Prof LaVaque-Manky, also pretty interesting)
-UC 102 (1 credit minilecture I had to take for a learning community)

2nd Semester:
-Econ 102 (much harder than 101 but more interesting)
-Stats 250 (I had AP credit for calc 1 so this is a really good class to take that’s not hard but still shows quantitative reasoning)
-Polsci 111 (also a pretty easy class)
-Psych 211 (a credit/no credit community service based class I had to take for a learning community)

This wasn’t that hard of a schedule for me; I had 2 pretty tough classes each semester, but I somehow was able to pull off a 4.0 both semesters without too much trouble.

I’m taking econ 101 and calc 1 together … Is this not advisable?

Econ 101 is not too difficult. Very doable; many take both together.
