I believe it is required to take 9 credits in one summer. Is this correct?
If so, I am currently a Dual Enrollment/AP student and I should be starting FSU with nine credits already.Does this mean I still have to take the full 9 credits in the summer or am I allowed to take one or two classes only since i would already have nine credits?

Finally, what are some good courses to take in the summer?
I already have credits for ENC 1101 and HUM 1020.

It is required to take nine hours of summer credit only if you aren’t already entering with 9 or more AP/DE/IB credits. If you have 8 credits coming in, you still need to get 9 (it’s stupid, but unless it changed from when I was a freshman, that’s the rule).

It is not recommended to take 9 hours in one summer… you can try, but general rule of thumb is to take as many credits as weeks in the term.

The entire summer term is 12 weeks and that is summer A. Then there is a short 6 week term summer B followed by a short 6 week term summer C. (Fall and spring are 15 weeks). A full load in fall and spring is 15 hours. For a FULL summer term of 12 weeks (3/4 of the same time) a full load is 12 hours and for a 6 weeks mini term a full load is 6 hours per mini term.

Entering FTIC freshman start summer C and only need to take 6 hours. If you come in with 9 hours of AP or DE credit you have no requirements for any summer hours, but if you get accepted for summer you get a head start on adjusting to on campus college life this way, and take 6 hours. Nine hours in a 6 week block is equivalent to 22 hours in a normal fall term so don’t attempt it. Classroom time is the same for a 3 credit hour course whether you take it over 15 hours in the fall/spring, 12 hours in summer or 6 hours in mini summer. If you go to class for fall twice a week, you will likely go three time a week for full summer and 5 days a week for summer C. Given that you may be taking gordon rule classes and writing 3000 words in under 6 weeks, and given this is your first term, just take 6 hours.

ENC 1101 (or the next one if you tested out) is generally required for all freshman during their first semester on campus. They want you to be good writers early.

I believe you still have to take the atleat 6 or 8 credits depending on the class and how much hours it’s worth. but since your already ahead you would just take other classes to further you along in your choice of major. I’m a dual enrollment student and I will be enrolling for the summer as well with 30 college credits. When FSU admission officers came to school they confirmed that I would still have to take at least 6-8 credits. So I would think the same applies to you. Always call and make sure tho. Good luck! :)
