Generally, what classes do incoming freshman in a science major take? I heard we have to take bio/chem, but I want to take an anthropology/ethnic studies course my first year. I also don’t think I can handle bio and chem in the same quarter.
What is your current science major? Science majors need foundations in Chemistry/Biology/Physics to continue onto their major courses. You will also be expected to take UC general education courses so most science majors have a balance in their schedules. Usually 2 pre-req science courses (Math/Chemistry/Biology) and 2 GE electives. You will be able to take an anthropology/ethnic studies course your first year.
Oh that makes sense. I am majoring in Neuroscience.
On the link below you can click on the 4 year schedule for a BA or BS Neuroscience degree to see what are the major requirements including the GE/electives. This will help you plan out your 4 years at UCR.
