So I'm registering for classes right now, and I noticed that a lot of them are closed despite space being available in sections. Is this to provide incoming Freshman slots for orientation? If so, when does registration open again for the rest of us? I dropped an important class because I wanted to swap the section and it suddenly became closed. >.<

Yeah sometimes they close the classes early so the freshmen have a chance (assuming it is an intro course with no prerequisites). Also sometimes the classes say that there are spots left even though the class is full or closed. That means people dropped the class and the professor closed it so they can have room for crashers when the class starts.

FYI you can click “switch” button on your schedule so you can switch sections, you don’t have to drop it and re-add the course. Maybe you can email the professor to ask if he/she will open the course again before the quarter starts. Other than that, keep an eye on the course to see if it opens later (sometimes their are weird glitches on GOLD).
