I know what I do in high school doesn’t really matter to applying for dental school but I just want to plan ahead and take classes that are helpful for me in the future. I also know that it really doesn’t matter which college I go to, but I do want to get into a good college, Uva to be specific. My high school has a dental program that I really wanted to take but it takes up two of my electives.
This is what I was planning on taking at first
Freshman - Spanish 2, Orchestra (P.E takes up another elective)
P.E 10 in the summer of freshman year
Sophomore - Spanish 3, orchestra, art
Junior - Anatomy, Dentistry 1
Senior - Either AP bio or AP chem, dentistry 2
(disclaimer, my school doesn’t allow ap classes for freshman year)
Without dentistry program it would look something like this
Freshman - same as above
Sophomore - same as above
Junior - Anatomy, orchestra, ap bio or chem
Senior - Orchestra , ap micro macro, ap bio or chem
The dental program seems really fun and it allows me to be in club like HOSA which also sounds super fun and gives me volunteer hours at hospitals and such, but without the program, I can definitely take more ap science classes while continuing on orchestra.
So what do you think I should do?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, the dental program is OK if you aim for CNU ’ s Presidential Leadership Academy, for instance, but for UVA no program but AP BIO, AP CHEM, as well as orchestra would e more important.
Could you take AP Bio or Chem sophomore year instead of art, scratch the anatomy and take the other one and then go back to orchestra senior year? Anatomys not really important
Or if you don’t care about dropping orchestra, drop anatomy junior and do chem or bio and do the other one senior and keep sophomore the same. If you don’t wanna take an AP science sophomore year this is an option
Wouldn’t 4 consecutive years of orchestra look good for college tho? and no my school doesn’t allow us to take ap science class without taking non ap. So I would have to take biology before taking ap biology. But I will definitely consider the second option thanks!
