classes premeds would find AWESOME?

What are some classes offered at Cal that y'all think a premed would be interested in? please and thank you. :]

I am premed here at Cal. Your question is extremely vague…

In terms of INTEREST I find that many of my premed friends really enjoy physiology classes such as IB 131A. I’m a MCB - Neurobiology major and I haven’t had room for any IB courses, but thus far I’ve really enjoyed MCB 102 and MCB 163, which is an intense course on Neuroanatomy. I mean, if you really like medicine any upper division anatomy course or biology course should interest you. You learn a lot of biochemical pathways that really make you think about how the body works in 102. You can’t really go too wrong with MCB and IB courses. A lot of my premed (and non premed) friends have also suggested drugs and the brain, but I’m not sure where that course falls.

Hope that helps! Let me know if that was actually your question!

I’ve heard good things about ESPM 162 (Bioethics and Society).

You learn a lot of biochemical pathways that really make you think about how the body works in 102.

lol. other than zusman, 102 was a joke.

If you’re looking for a bio class, some of the MCB elective classes are pretty cool - bacterial pathogenesis (mcb c103), cancer bio (mcb 132) are good ones. If you’re looking for a social science class, there are some really awesome upper div classes in the public health, psych, & soc departments. Take whatever sounds interesting to you though.

Thank you happypatatoes. You answered my vague question finely [haha sorry about that]. I’m also a hopeful MCB-neurobio major and I will definitely look into those class. :]

And thanks everyone else as well. REALLY HELPFUL. :]

Hi there. I’m no longer pre-med…hehehe. Anyways just like to share some classes I enjoyed as an undergrad:
MCB 103 was a very engaging class about diseases and treatments of various bacterial species (3 awesome prof)
Public Health 116 was a nice chill class about current health issues,
Premed 101 was a class to feel premed (but honestly it’s good to interact with fellow premeds right?)
Do take some humanities courses (I took Art, Philosophy, Roman Civ classes that I enjoyed because they taught me how to care about aesthetics, suffering, history of humanity, etc…)
Oh and I signed up for Taekwondo, becuz that’s what premeds do!
